Our swarm boxes are unique in that they are built out of 5/8″ plywood making them idea if you want to overwinter a nuc. The nuc is painted white with exterior paint. No alternate colors are offered. The nuc also comes with a follower board so you can keep a swarm or split in it over the summer to build up. Finally, hive entrances are provided in the front and back allowing a beekeeper to configure the box as two 3 frame queen mating nucs making this swarm box a 3-in-1 design increasing the all year value of this purchase.

If you currently have a ventilated lid it can be upgraded to an insulated lid (R-14) upon request. Simply drop off the old lid and we will add insulation and cover it with a wood surface protecting the insulation from ants and bees. Ventilation holes are sealed with white caulking. The installation is permanent and not intended to be removed.
